Evaluation question 1

This is our answer to question one of the four evaluation questions that we are going to answer. Within this short video, we have summarised our use of key concepts of music videos and genre conventions. Certain conventions we have manipulated, others we have challenged and some we have followed closely. We explain our main themes, ideas and the thought processes that we took in order to create our promotional package of a music video, digipak and and advert.

Evaluation question 2

This is question 2 of the evaluation questions which is about look back on the ancillary texts that we have created. We decided to produce this answer on Prezi so that it was interestingly created using different forms of media. Through the process of answering this question, we have been able to determine what was good about our ancillary texts and what we could have improved. We were able to re-cap all of the skills that we have learnt, developed and expanded throughout the making of our ancillary texts.

Evaluation question 3

This is question 3 of our evaluation questions in which we analysed some feedback from our audience. We decided to present this question on Prezi also, in order to allow us to use screen grabs of our comments and the media basis that they were taken from. Throughout the process of receiving feedback from our audience, we have been able to look at what our audience want and if we have been successful in giving them that. We were able to compare the feedback on our product with that of our audience research which we carried out before the making of our video, digipak and advert.

Draft answer for evaluation question 1

This is the basic script that Alex created for question 1 of our evaluation questions. We decided to make a script and then video our answer whilst showing the relative clip of the video on an interactive whiteboard. We thought that this would be the most successful way to explain how we have complied, manipulated and challenged media conventions within our production. Throughout the process of making this video, we have been able to look more closely at how stuck to conventions of artists, lyrics and genre and how we challenged other conventions to make the video, modern, exciting and lively.

Rough Cut 2

This is our rough cut which we created half way through the process of creating our promotional package. We used a rough cut in order to gain some peer feeback in a group session one lesson. From our peer feedback we noted that there were both positive and negative points on which we could improve upon whilst editing in the run up to our final cut.
One positive point that was made clear through the peer feedback was that our lipsync was particuarly good as it was in time for the duration of the clip and looked realistic.
A point to improve upon was noted that our shot variety could be improved by using different variations of shot. For example, some medium shots, long shots and more importantly moving shots.
From our peer feedback we could assess how to improve our rough drafting of our video in order to create a more professional, realistic and genre conforming final product.
